The Darn Skippy Ensemble Experiment explores how professional and amateur theatre practitioners can support one another’s artistic practice.
Strand 1 – Building a professional Ensemble: Darn Skippy Productions will put together an ensemble of 5 professional actors, led by director Lianne O’Shea. Over the course of 4 sessions, based in the Moat Theatre, we will engage in open-ended theatrical experimentation, outside of the pressure of a specific production, developing our theatre practice and generating ideas for future projects.I t is a wonderful opportunity for us to build a group of actors who are confident working in this way.
Strand 2 - a programme of skill-sharing and exchange between Darn Skippy and Moat Club. Darn Skippy Productions offer: • Continuation of the Directors’ Mentoring Programme (2012/2013 and 2014/2015) – Lianne O’Shea will facilitate a series of seminars and practical workshops for emerging directors within the Moat Club, working towards presenting pieces at the Moat’s One Act Festival in April 2024. • A “Buddy System” whereby a Moat Club actor can ask to be paired up with a member of the Darn Skippy Ensemble.
In exchange, the Moat Club and Theatre offer: • Use of theatre space for the Darn Skippy Ensemble’s work • Insights from the Moat Club’s long history of producing large-scale theatre, engaging local audiences and developing ensembles over time
Participants for this event will be members of the Moat Club
