This project will facilitate the development process for the production of the new play The Girls in the Boat.
Based on the theme of rowing and centered around Carlow Rowing Club at the centre of Carlow town. Founded in 1889, it is one of the oldest rowing clubs in the country. It has produced international and national champions.
This play offers an opportunity to view the broader issues of society by examining a fictional small and vibrant rowing club.
A rower is to the boat what the musician is to the cello. It is a sport that fuses elegance and strength. A rower reaches for an impossible state of perfection and in doing so pushes herself to the limits of their endurance. A crew continuously strives for harmony and unity of movement.
