This project will involve a postal gathering of stories and memories from people, and the interweaving of these stories into a piece of art which will be shown at the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, Mayo. The memory will be prompted by a question:

If you were allowed to keep only one object that you have a sentimental attachment to, what would that object be, and why?

Artist Elaine Mears is inviting you to share your story. Elaine will be gathering all the stories and combining them to create a piece of art which will include representations of the precious objects, recordings of stories, smells, and blended materials which will combine to bring all the memories together in one place.

Elaine is a theatre maker, designer and visual artist who has also worked extensively in community development and human rights. She is the Associate Artist with the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar this year. A lot of her work is grounded in reminiscent art practices.
