The Memory of Stone Creative Writing Workshops
The Irish Workhouse Centre will host a series of writing workshops in Spring 2026 to mark the National Famine Commemoration.
The facilitator, Noelle Lynskey, local writer will lead the group (12-15 max) in creative responses to the artefacts, exhibits and ambience of Portumna’s Workhouse & Museum. The pieces of writing, once edited by Noelle, will be presented at an event marking the National Famine Commemoration in May 2026.
The workshops will take place over a series of four Monday mornings from 11 am-1pm in the Irish Workhouse Cantre. The dates are Monday March 2nd, 16th, 30th and April 13th.
To register your interest, please call 087 2931055 or email noellelynskey@gmail.com
Numbers are limited so early registration necessary. This is open to adults with or without previous writing experience, who are also interested in the story of the workhouse. The first workshop will include a tour of the workhouse museum and the exhibitions in situ of art and sculptures.
This project is supported by The Irish Workhouse Centre & Portumna Arts Group.
