The Mighty Cratloe Oak

The Mighty Cratloe Oak – a creative village gateway project, aims to empower local residents in Cratloe through a series of workshops and community collaboration, to develop a visual artistic design concept for the village gateway area.

For many, Cratloe Woods and particularly the native oak tree are synonymous with Cratloe. The village does not have a traditional layout so it is important that we foster that sense of belonging and local place/identity. The end result of this project would help bring some cohesion to the village - a sense of arriving somewhere unique with its own local story to tell.

Due to the changing demographics of our community in recent years, we hope to promote a sense of community, educate new locals on the diverse history and culture of Cratloe and foster social connections to further enrich our community.

The area in question is the gateway to Cratloe and is currently being developed into a biodiversity area, in line with the Biodiversity Action Plan and the feature will be linked in to this highly visible area. Links to climate action and biodiversity will be explored in the process.

The agreed design will be used as a basis for a future grant application to fund its construction and installation.

24th April, 7.30pm - 9.30pm
