The Nursing Home Project by Rachel Uí Fhaoláin is an important connecting, collecting and archiving initiative involving nursing home residents in Galway. Traditional Singer, researcher, folklorist and educator Rachel Uí Fhaoláin will develop and expand this important DVD collection with nursing homes in County Galway. The artist works in weekly blocks to build and develop the digital skills required to fully engage in the project and to also develop the relationships with the residents and staff. The participation from the residents throughout the project is an active role where Rachel and the project participants work together to develop the collection of stories, songs, folklore, social history accounts etc. In between the virtual visits the participants are assigned research/writing activities by the artist as part of the collating process. 

Throughout the project, both the artist and the project participants also work collaboratively to develop the content for the participatory programmes where the wider nursing home community and the wider community in general in Galway are brought together to get involved.

As part of the creative engagement of this project Rachel also proposes to deliver an innovative intergenerational educational programme where she will engage local schools and libraries creatively.
