The Printmaker’s Garden Club
The Printmaker’s Garden Club is part youth club, part outdoor community venue, part learning space, part creative arts space and part discussion space. It incorporates the long standing traditions of skill sharing in local groups and clubs such as the Tidy Villages, Mens Sheds, Vintage Rally Clubs with a Youth Club while being infused with art, printmaking and growing.
The project includes an after-school garden club with local school children situated within Clonoulty’s community garden and the development of an outdoor structure and kids’ kitchen garden. This multi-functioning space will act as a backdrop and framework for the project to build a programme of regular activity, including creative workshops and monthly socials, while also acting as a canvas for the work created by the club.
The club will include a series of workshops to be facilitated by the artist in collaboration with local residents. The aim is to encourage the sharing and exchange of ideas and approaches with older members of the community to develop a sense of possibilities for their own creative practices and skills as well as encouraging meaningful and long lasting intergenerational activity within the community. The club will also provide an important arena for the young people of Clonoulty to learn and express themselves in new ways in a new immersive and intimate space.
The project is open to residents of Clonoulty Village and children from Clonoulty National School.
