The Second Chamber

‘The Second Chamber’ is a documentary film produced by IWR Media for TG4 which explores the possible existence of an undiscovered second chamber in Newgrange, Neolithic site. This documentary sets Newgrange in its historical and cultural context, tracing the development of chambered cairns from Sligo, through Loughcrew to the Boyne Valley in Meath and Knockroe in Kilkenny. A sequence in the film featuring the Neolithic site of Knockroe in Co. Kilkenny with its distinctive western and eastern chambers, will include an interview with Archeologist Muiris O’Sullivan who has led the excavations of this important site over many years. The documentary will screen to a national audience on TG4, with an anticipated broadcast date in Spring 2023.

In addition to the production, IWR Media will host a documentary production workshop for ‘Young Irish Filmmakers’ in Kilkenny, engaging with interested young talent from the local community. Further information about this workshop will be published closer to the time.
