The Walls’ (working title) is a new multi-channel audio installation and event planned for Cloughoughter Castle by visual artist AlanJames Burns. The 3-D audio installation will personify an “inner dialogue” of the castle in the form of a dialogue. The artwork will be accessible at dusk for 3-4 weeks. Each night, an audience will travel to the island by boat, where the audio installation will play from 25-30 speakers. The audience will be immersed in landscape and dialogue that will bring the Castle to life, giving it a voice that discusses the national monuments history, its context and, the effects of climate change on our built heritage and wellbeing. 

Preparation for this ambitious and innovative project commenced in April 2021 and will open in May 2022.
