The Wood For the Trees
THE WOOD FOR THE TREES is a symposium exploring and celebrating nature writing. It is a collaborative project with the Arts Office & the Heritage Office where writers and poets will discuss nature and bio-diversity in its diverse forms.
This day-long event in Lough Key Forest Park will feature readings and talks by nature writers/broadcasters and nature poets, guided woodland walks and a panel discussion with audience participation.
The event was scheduled for 2020 but had to be cancelled due to Covid 19 Restrictions. However the Wood for the Trees Poetry Competition went ahead as planned, on the theme of nature and biodiversity. The winners will recite their poems this year.
This will be Roscommon's first ever nature writing festival. It responds to the Creative Ireland Vision for Roscommon set out in the Culture and Creativity Strategy 2018-2022:
“That every person will have an opportunity to experience, enjoy and engage with the limitless nature of County Roscommon’s rich creative vein.”
Booking information will be available at a future date.
