"Thinking on Water, Walking in Woods"

"Thinking on Water, Walking in Woods" operates as a transformative Eco social art platform to enact change and build leadership in support of valuing nature, foster community connections, and embed science and creative activities in the St. Mullins hinterland close to Drummin Bog.
It will stage two art and science actions in the St. Mullins community, South Carlow. Thinking on Water involves a canoe trip on the River Barrow with eco-art scientist Tasneem Khan, Go With the Flow canoeing*, and project participants, in order to examine St. Mullins and its hinterland from another perspective; that of the river.
Walking in Woods involves a guided walk with an ecologist through Bauck Woods (opposite Drummin Bog) down to the Barrow riverbank. This time, participants will be invited to examine this part of St. Mullins from the alternative perspective of this special woodland.
The aim, through art and science actions, is to connect and foster relationships between local community groups who are caring for the natural habitats of this special part of South Carlow; and relevant officers of Carlow County Council, e.g. Biodiversity Officer, Heritage Officer, Arts Officer etc. The two voluntary community groups are the Drummin Bog Project and the St. Mullins parish Heritage and Tourism Group.

Thinking on Water, Walking in Woods is designed to ground participants physically outdoors in nature; to experience the hinterland of Drummin Bog and its links to St. Mullins.
