Tipperary Children’s Book Festival 2024
The Children’s Book Festival is a national festival run annually. In Co. Tipperary it is run by the Library Service in conjunction with the primary schools in the county. This festival of fun celebrates books and all things book related. Throughout the month of October, with events running in different libraries around the county, children of all ages, from schools north and south of the county, will visit their local library where they get will get the chance to meet their favourite authors, illustrators and storytellers. All events are interactive – for the little ones it may be a storytelling session complete with puppets. For the older kids a chance to meet a favourite author or be introduced to someone new.
Julie Rose McCormack’s puppet show will kick off this year’s Festival which sees authors for younger children like Kate Sheehy and Wayne O’Connor provide high octane, hilariously funny sessions. Middle school children will enjoy meeting authors like Alan Dunne, Alma Jordan, Emma Larkin with older children getting to meet authors such Ann Murtagh and Emma Larkin. The illustrator, John Carpenter, will be giving a Manga art class for older children and the wonderful Éanna Ní Lamhna will provide sessions ‘as Gaeilge’ as well as in English, for children of all ages.
Please note: These events are aimed at primary school children and as such are organised by individual libraries with local schools. They are not open to the general public.
Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
