Completion of the Town Prototypes Project in Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, which involves community design process to enhance the town's build environment, and particularly the approach roads' 'thresholds'. Three standalone structures will be produced and installed at the northern entrance to Kilmallock, that when aligned form the silhouette of the missing North Gate. The structures have been designed in collaberation with the local community and are being fabricated by members of the Kilmallock CE scheme, who have been trained in CNC machines at FabLab Limerick as part of the project, and by members of the Kilmallock Men's Shed. As part of the design, a series of historic maps will be installed on the inner face of some of the structures. The completion of the project will have a big impact on the northern entrance to Kilmallock and significance to the wider Kilmallock Community and to visitors alike.
