Traditional Crafts in Castletown House

A series of talks were scheduled for the weekend of the 15th and 16th of June in Castletown House, Celbridge.

These talks all focused on building skills and architectural conservation, with emphasis on period buildings and traditional crafts. There was a total of thirteen talks taking place over the course of the two days, focusing on topics such as:

  • Reducing energy and carbon use in traditionally-built houses
  • Policy and legislation for protected structures
  • The history and conservation of Castletown House
  • Maintenance of period buildings, e.g. controlling damp, using lime, thatched buildings etc.
This event was a collaboration between Kildare County Council and the Irish Georgian Society, with all talks free and open to the public.
