"Trash to Treasure" Workshops

Bridgeways FRC aims to host upcycling, recycling and sustainable craft workshops over the summer & Autumn period.

The workshops will be targeted at disadvantaged, at risk and vulnerable children aged eight to twelve and adolescents aged 13+. The workshops will take place in Bridgeways FRC and the rubbish being used to create the accessories will be gathered through litter picking in the local community. There will also be a community call for collection of items. These engaging workshops provided by "Kaniuta Art Services" epitomize the essence of upcycling and sustainability by ingeniously transforming rubbish into functional and aesthetically pleasing accessories therefore teaching skills such as team working and communication.

We envision that by running such workshops the young people's view of rubbish and recycling can be transformed through creativity. These workshops will provide skills on how to create sustainable accessories while teamwork and community spirit are fostered through gathering materials together. Promotion of mental health and well being is always at the forefront of our work and will be encouraged via the project.

Climate Action is often an alien concept to our most disadvantaged, however through this creative realm, together we can support those to take part and bring their new found skills and friendships into the future.
