Twin Town Lua Festival
The Twin Town Lua project entails the development of a self-sustaining festival showcasing and promoting the vibrant community of Ballina and Killaloe. Brought to you by the Derg Branch of Inland Waterways Ireland, it will showcase the area’s rich cultural heritage while providing a family-friendly experience.
The aim of the festival to raise awareness of the cultural offerings in the region, which boasts exceptional beauty and a rich catchment. The Derg Branch sees this festival as an opportunity to unite communities of interest and form a productive stakeholder network. By promoting the historical and cultural elements of the region, the festival aims to educate visitors about the impacts of climate change and the importance of biodiversity and nature. The festival will also target new stakeholders as potential science, technology, and engineering investors through its partnership with the Charting Special Interest Groups (CSIG) and the Environmental Special Interest Groups (ESIG).
The festival will showcase a wide range of events including art exhibitions, workshops, music and talks - all celebrating life on the beautiful banks of Lough Derg.
Events will be in St. Flannans Cathederal throughout the weekend.
All activities are free and no booking is required.
