Updating The Laurels Conservation Report

The Laurels is a simple vernacular building which was the maternal home place of Brian Friel’s mother and inspiration for the playwright.

The social and cultural significance of this building is such that it is of National importance (very few buildings in Donegal that have this importance rating). The building is vacant and deteriorating. It is critical that that is finds a sustainable new use.  There was a Conservation Report carried out 7 years ago that is now out of date. The updating of the report is essential to ensure a plan-led approach to the conservation and repair and inform finding a new use for the building.
