Waterford Walls Culture Connect Programme 2026
Culture Connect 2026 marks the return of Waterford Walls’ public engagement programme, delivering five accessible, participatory events that deepen understanding of Waterford’s expanding mural collection. Running from 7–16 August 2026, the programme strengthens connections between artists, communities and audiences, while reinforcing Waterford’s role as a European centre for high-quality public art.
Highlights include the Breaking Showcase x Recession Squad in Thomas Street Pocket Park, a lively breakdancing event featuring battles for adults and children, cyphers, freestyles and live music. It creates opportunities for local and international performers to connect, while inviting the public into an open street culture experience.
An Artist Talk will offer insight into headline artists’ practices, influences and approaches to large-scale murals.
Talking to the Walls IV (Panel) brings together architects and mural artists at Waterford Gallery of Art to explore links between muralism, architecture and public space.
A Community Mural project invites participants of all ages to collaborate with an artist, creating an Irish-language artwork through discussion and painting.
Finally, a Film Screening will feature a documentary on street art, connecting gallery audiences with global urban art perspectives.
