Wellness through Peer to Peer Creativity

In this 6 week STEAM ( science, technology, engineering, art and maths) project Transition Year (TY) students from Waterford will explore the world of animation, learning about the art, technology and creative process involved and how they are interconnected.

Each week the TY students will be introduced to different techniques -Thaumatropes, Flip book animation, Zeotropes, Stop Motion and Simple animation software. Participants will explore the whole creative process from ideation to production. Culture and heritage will be at the centre of the programme as a leitmotif through the different activities. The students will develop simple inspirational animations on Wellness and Wellbeing and shared though social media. The TY students will also deliver workshops for younger pupils at Garter Lane Arts Centre.

The programme is coordinated by Calmast, a leading centre in STEAM Engagement (WIT) , working with with a DEIS secondary school in Waterford. The programme is designed to create a positive learning environment where participants develop their own confidence in creative and critical thinking, collaboration and peer-learning, embracing and sharing new ideas.
