In 2021, Westival Arts Festival in Westport, Co. Mayo had planned a major project that would have a big impact in terms of interacting with rural and farming families. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this project will now become an arts project in schools in rural areas.

Westival will create a community arts project with rural primary schools and will engage an artist to work with pupils and their families to create a collage image on the schools that reflects the culture, history and rural life in general in the area. The school is the hub for the community and has a strong impact on families in rural areas.

Westival will also work with a video mapping digital projectionist to create projection images that again reflect rural and farming life.

Westival are using the rural schools as the best way to engage with rural families and still deliver arts to these communities which is very much part of their outreach.
