We’ve Still got a Pulse

"We’ve Still Got a Pulse" is a representation of the beating hearts of the Youth Community in our area. Our event, planned to be performed live on Westport’s Octagon will be presented during the summer in accordance with national guidelines over the months of June/July/August. The project will also be recorded on video so it can be streamed via our social media channels.

Our goal is to produce a visual and sound art project, celebrating the beating heart of the planet and her nature. We are going to create a large street art installation piece in the beating heart of Westport town, the Octagon.

We want to bring our creativity and energy onto the street in a colourful visual and sound art celebration of everything that has a pulse - People, the birds and animals, the planet itself! This is a joyous celebration of life that will be expressed with large scale visual sets that celebrate the rhythms and energy of mark-making and self-expression using the motifs of Irish birds and animals.

The visual exploration of rhythms and beat will be extended audibly with Westport’s amazing youth drumming group ‘Pulse’ who will explore all the different beats of these different hearts and create a life enhancing sound celebration. A weekly timeline of video and photos starting from the beginning of the workshops showing progression and development of the project will be documented and promoted via social media.
