This Environmental Art Project will have an open-ended collaborative organic approach to developing artwork as an immediate response to the environment of Mayo’s Shore Line.

Mayo has the longest coastline of any county in Ireland, at 1,168 km (726 mi) or approximately 21% of the total coastline of the State, which includes such wonders as Downpatrick Head, Keem Strand (Achill), Killary Harbour, Clew Bay, Erris Head, Lacken Bay and Clare Island, to name but a few.

Local independent professional Community Artists and Mayo Artsquad will work on this integrated art project. Where Art and Science meet will respond specifically to the Mayo Shore line, in particular the area of pollution will be explored. This project will work closely with environmental scientists. Local Mayo communities will actively be engaged with the project.
