This project gives a real time point of entry into a different era. Using Augmented Reality technology, a QR code and smartphone/tablet, it will enable people to imagine what it was like to walk in the shoes of people from the past.

The project uses historic photos and postcards to create 10 augmented reality views of streets, street activity, transport and historic buildings in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

A technical update in 2022 allows for better user experience, enabling the user to move the angle of the image to explore the scene, enable a person to appear in real time and space “in” the historic photo on a smartphone and to easily share on social media.
