'Woodquay and Beyond' Contemplative Dance On Line

The work of acclaimed Galway Dance practitioner Bernadette Divilly involves the translation of Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP) principles and practices into Socially Engaged Choreography and a practice with a strong commitment to cultural diversity and working with place, presence and power.

In this Covid - 19 residency Bernadette will build on her strong relationship with the communities of the inner City Wood Quay neighbourhood in Galway to engage with local residents in developing a collaborative project. The engagement with confront issues of power, presence and place, developing a virtual and discursive - multi participative - public space with recognition of the influence of COVID-19. Through the residency work she will link art with landscape and neighbourhood in a process that is contemporary, resolute and resonant with the restrictions. During this Covid 19 specific residency she will develop a virtual pathway for CDP, working with and through the Woodquay community.

Additionally in the residency Bernadette will develop a CDP as a support for the wellbeing of professional dancers, supporting their work with the over 50s through remote dance labs held by Galway Dance Project and Dance Ireland.
