The ongoing Writer in Residence Programme in 2020 will see new elements being developed, such as online creative writing and Fighting Words Ireland.
This residency will engage experienced writer(s) which will create opportunities for the writer to develop her/his own work and to encourage the imagination and creativity of emerging writers in the community, through contact hours with an experienced published writer.
Over a period of 6 months, the successful creative practitioner will
- Deliver creative writing workshops to participants
- Help, encourage and provide support to participants in telling their stories
- Write a piece of work (or report on) the experience of the residency and/or individual stories arising from the residency
- Coordinate a Readers/Writers Day
The successful candidate will engage with children, young people and adults through the library branch network, schools and with existing creative writing and book groups and will assist in the development of new writing groups.
An expected outcome of this programme will take the form of a showcase event or visual or printed record of engagement, pending budget considerations.
