Can You Hear Me?
This series of inclusive theatre workshops is being delivered to explore issues around identity.
The workshops allow our crew members to have a voice, to tell their stories, and to have the opportunity to express themselves through drama. Our crew is set to benefit enormously by working alongside professional artists Anna Simpson, Fiona Keenan O'Brien, Anthony Kinahan, and Leah Rossiter from Quintessence Theatre Company. The initial culmination is a piece of theatre for family and friends, with a view to further developing the piece for a wider audience.
For our crew, the project also helps develop self-esteem and communication skills, and helps remove barriers preventing young adults with ID from progressing and developing as individuals. It's sure to enhance the creative potential of our crew.
Our project contributes to Creative Louth and the two specific pillars by:
- Enabling the creative potential of a community of young adults with intellectual disabilities, thus further enabling creativity in the disability community
- Focusing on the provision of high quality arts experiences and programmes for a community
- Creating access to cultural participation
This project would not be possible without the support of Creative Ireland.
