Cruinniú na nÓg: What’s on in Ulster?

Find out what fantastic fun you can enjoy when Cruinniú na nÓg kicks off on 23 June.

With only two days to go, are you ready for the creative, youthful buzz that’s set to spread nationwide for the first ever Cruinniú na nÓg?

This Saturday, 23 June, creative sparks will be alight in every county, city, town and village with performance, coding, theatre, art, music, readings, screenings, special events and more on this free, youth-friendly day of creativity.

Supported by RTÉ and Local Authorities nationwide, Cruinniú na nÓg celebrates and encourages children and young people to truly get hands on with culture and creativity in their local area.

If you live in Ulster, here are just some of the free, local activities and events you can enjoy:

Cavan Town’s lively pop-up Gaeltacht will provide endless ways to try out your cúpla focail. Also in the town, the talented Gonzo Youth Theatre will stage ‘Lost and Found’ – an enveloping story of exploration, adventure and growing up.

Enjoy a great tale well told? Renowned traditional storyteller Niall de Búrca will entertain everyone with his dynamic yarns. While Cavan Youth Arts Lab will present workshops on just about everything, from printing to visual art and origami.

Imaginations are encouraged to run wild in Donegal, with the Imagination Playground in Dungloe. This innovative system of big blocks allows children and parents to build and create whatever they choose, through free, joyful play.

Step to the beat and shake those hips with Letterkenny’s high-energy carnival dance workshop for kids aged 10-18. Also in Letterkenny, let time take over and your creative vibes flow with a sundial mandala workshop. Learn how to create and decorate your own sundials and work in groups to make larger pieces for display at a later date too.

In Gaoth Dobhair, Eoghan Mac Ghiolla Bhríghde will host a drama workshop through Irish, perfect for those who love the language and the spotlight.

In Monaghan, revel in a super summer showcase of young people for young people. The Garage Theatre will stage an evening of terrific local talent with kids aged 13+ demonstrating their creative strengths via music, drama, writing and much more.

These are just a taste of what’s happening in Ulster for Cruinniú na nÓg, find out what’s on near you and share the fun you’re having on social media using the hashtag #MyCruinniu
