Heritage in Schools Scheme

News

“Heritage is who you are, what you mean to this world, where you come from”

Students nationwide are discovering the beauty and value of their local heritage through the Heritage in Schools Scheme’s engaging, interactive workshops.

The Heritage Council is boosting young people’s interest in their local environment through the dynamic Heritage in Schools Scheme. Its panel of 160 diverse experts in everything from the natural world to built heritage, educate and inspire school children across the country with cross-curricular learning, storytelling, performance and practical workshops.

The scheme aids teachers too, by firing up the pupils’ imaginations and helping them to appreciate their local environment, especially relevant at the moment as 2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage. The scheme also provides teachers with new tools and perspectives to utilise in the classroom.

“We need to look around us, you don’t have to travel across the world to see amazing things – it’s right in front of you.”
