Ireland’s brightest talents and finest minds are Los Angeles bound to showcase the nation’s unique culture and creativity.
From music to visual arts, the Irish language to the film industry, innovation and entrepreneurs, a broad range of Irish skills, expertise and accomplishments will be explored in the west coast city during Ireland Week, 16-21 October.
Presented with support from Creative Ireland, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Irish Film Board, Culture Ireland, IDA Ireland, Tourism Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, just some of Ireland Week’s highlights include an Irish music showcase, the expert-led conference Connect 353, along with a pop-up art gallery and even a pop-up Gaeltacht.
On 16 October the Music from Ireland showcase will boast the renowned talents of Lisa Hannigan, The Strypes, Elm and All Tvvins. While LA-based multi award winning Irish film composer, songwriter, producer and conductor Brian Byrne performs his latest album live on 18 October.
On 19 October the Connect 353 conference will see discussions on the likes of Ireland and the world economy, innovation and entrepreneurship, Ireland’s place in the film, animation, TV and gaming industries as well as our country’s broad cultural reach.
Just some of the diverse speakers on the day include TD Michael D’Arcy, Minister of State; Dan Mulhall, Irish Ambassador to the United States; Voxpro CEO Dan Kiely; Cartoon Saloon’s Nora Twomey and Paul Young; performer and activist Rory O’Neill aka Panti Bliss; actor Fionnula Flanagan; and the director and producer of the latest Star Wars film, Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman.
