Paint The Park Mural
The commissioning of two local Artists to create a mural for Blackrock Community Park highlighting the importance of insects in the life of the planet and illustrating the plants throughout the park which support larvae, eggs, caterpillars etc of bees, butterflies, moths etc. The colourful mural will show the connections between these plants and the insects and pollinators recorded in the park. The Mural will be placed in a pivotal location in this public park where it can be viewed by all who use the area.
The mural will also be a resource for the Kindergarten and Primary School children who attend the 3 schools in Blackrock and for whom the park is a resource for learning and experiencing biodiversity, planting (trees, flowers and food crops) and who regularly use the park with their Teachers on bug hunts, plant hunts and for growing – Footprints Pre-School have their own raised bed where they have been growing Incredible Edibles for the past number of years.
