YouthSing Ireland

Group singing has an incredible and documented capacity to produce enormous health and well-being benefits as well as clear development and learning outcomes for young people.

With the support of Creative Ireland, Sing Ireland has developed the YouthSing Ireland programme. Young singers throughout Ireland, in partnership with the National Children’s Choir, have been exploring new repertoires and new singing resources as Gaeilge or of Irish cultural significance.

These newly commissioned pieces from Seán Doherty, Róisín Blunnie and Anne-Marie O’Farrell are designed to inspire creativity both inside and outside of the classroom.

Musicians, teachers and young people have been working together in SingSpaces (a place where creative singing happens) online and will work face to face once restrictions allow. Creative singing ‘creates performance’ and is both participatory and presentational.

SingSpace participants come together with vocal, creative and choral experts to create, perform and develop in a physical site dedicated to singing. SingSpaces are located in sites of cultural and/or educational importance and bring students beyond the classroom.

YouthSing’s new resources are available here.
