A Flock of Flags
A Flock of Flags is a climate action project that harnesses creativity to encourage local people to connect with the array of migratory birds found in Wexford.
Led by The Ways of Water Collective, the project invites the public to attend bird-flag making workshops using upcycled materials. Highlighting the birds’ beauty, journeys and conservational needs, the workshops will be held at the Wexford Wildfowl Reserve in the North Slobs where the largest breeding colony of Greenland White Fronted Geese in Europe reside.
When the flags have been made they will be brought to five host communities on the South Wexford Coastline whose specialised habitats are home to the birds when they visit Ireland. The human communities will gather to fly these flocks of flags, creating a sense of togetherness and connection with the birds of the coastline and the land itself.
