A Town Reads Susan Langstaff Mitchell

Artists Jackie and Rosalind will introduce participants to the poet Susan Langstaff in a local context and to the project 'A Town Reads Susan Langstaff Mitchell' 1866 – 1926 using a selection of poems from 'The Living Chalice' 1913 and other writings by Susan. Sessions will start from April 7th through to September.

The project location is Birr with a small group of people within the community itself. The venue for these recordings and social engagements will take place in participants homes/shops/parks, local environment and townscapes. The Tin Jug Studio, Birr will also be used to facilitate the collaborative process. The sessions are explorative using Anam Beo’s iPad pros with outcomes to include 10 short video recordings of poetry recitals from the participants.

Participants video recordings will be on websites, online and across social media networks. In total there are twelve individuals involved, with a wider community footfall audience engagement, using outdoor all-weather boards as part of a local legacy to the project outcomes will include A0 boards printed with chosen poetry and lines from the recitals. Participants will also have a printed poem on a familiar everyday object. Approx 25/50 people will take part in a project presentation and conversation about 'A Town Reads Susan Langstaff Mitchell' at Birr library.
