Atlantic Tide
The project is a collaboration between Sligo County Council, The Institute of Designers in Ireland, Connected Hubs and four anchor hubs (An Chroi Sligo, FutureCast Leitrim Innovate Limerick, Ludgate Cork), Regional Enterprise Offices (MW/NW/W), CREW, and the Western Development Commission. The proposal aims to activate recommendations by the Design Industry in 2021 which includes engagement and communications initiatives to demonstrate the value of the design industry to business. As multi-agency collaboration, the project harnesses existing resources of the executives in each entity. It addresses strategic aims of all partners and stakeholders.
The proposition involves the appointment of a Design Industry Project Lead through the IDI to design and implement a pilot engagement programme (3 strands-16 sessions) that will be rolled out on Connected Hubs (CH) as the platform of engagement and communication in order to maximise reach, and access as well as harness the CH data collection and GIS systems for research purposes during the project. Thematics are around design verticals: Product/Industrial design; communications design (graphic, branding, website design etc), strategic design (service design, UX), immersive design (VR/AR etc), spaces design (interior design, construction, architecture). Cross sectoral engagement will focus on 4 industry segments: AR/VR; Construction; MedTech and Mobility.
