We are the diverse and creative community of Doughiska and we want to organise and produce a day performance festival on the 17 June 2023 on the sports greens beside the ARD Family Resource Centre at Merlin Woods on Doughiska Road. We want to provide the opportunity, space and facilities for our culturally diverse community to come together again after covid and celebrate our talents in music, dance, spectacle, spoken word and some sports performance skills too. In the lead up to the event we will be meeting and working within our extended community to encourage everyone to take part and we will encourage all types of family friendly performance presentations. We hope to create an occasion for celebrating together, enjoying music and artistic activities. A series of striking visual art banners have been created by some of the groups with local artist Aine Phillips and we will be showcasing these also. We are asking for funding to provide a stage platform, a PA system and some children's entertainment and a band or DJ to finish off the afternoon. We have applied to the Dept of Justice Community Integration Fund for other facilities such as a marquee tent, the provision of catering and workshops on the day. Our intention is to create an event that will enable, celebrate and showcase the multiplicity of artistic, musical and performance skills in our area and to gather together and reconnect after the covid pandemic.
