A year-long digital engagement project that will commission and produce a series of short, accessible videos aimed at improving cultural literacy among young people in Donegal and beyond. Using the familiar “behind the scenes” format native to platforms such as TikTok, the project will demystify culture by showing how exhibitions, theatre, libraries, heritage, biodiversity initiatives and creative practices are actually made. The project responds directly to a growing disconnect between young people and cultural spaces and acts as a pilot initiative aligned with the Culture Division’s forthcoming Communications Policy, testing new platforms, tone and digital workflows.

Over a twelve-month period, a rolling programme of short videos of between 30 and 90 seconds will be produced and released online. Each video will focus on one cultural process or question, such as what an exhibition is and how it is made, what happens backstage before a play opens, what libraries do beyond lending books, why certain buildings are protected as heritage, and how biodiversity, film, animation, music and DJ culture form part of our contemporary cultural life. Content will be informal, visually engaging and designed specifically for TikTok and similar platforms, while remaining accurate and professionally grounded.
