Belonging on Stage
This project will deliver an eight-week Musical Theatre programme for children and young people aged 5–16 at Scala Youth Centre in Blackrock. Led by experienced facilitator Alison Teehan, the workshops will offer inclusive, high-quality opportunities to engage in singing, drama and movement within a supportive and accessible community setting.
Designed to reduce barriers to participation, the programme will welcome a diverse group of young people, including those with limited access to extracurricular activities and those with additional support needs. Through collaborative and creative activities, participants will be supported to build confidence, develop communication and teamwork skills, and explore self-expression in a safe and encouraging environment.
The project will foster a strong sense of belonging, enabling participants to form connections with peers and engage positively with their local community. Over the eight weeks, the group will work towards a shared creative outcome, culminating in an informal showcase for families and the wider community.
By prioritising inclusion, participation, and creativity, this initiative aims to enhance wellbeing, support personal development, and strengthen community connection in Blackrock.
