‘Bouncing Back’ Clubhouse Clonmel

Our Clubhouse in Clonmel is first and foremost a place in the community where people with an acquired brain injury can meet and be supported by our team of professionals and their peers. Many brain injury survivors often feel isolated as they can no longer engage with work or social groups in the way they did before their injury. The Clubhouse is a supportive community where survivors are encouraged to develop new relationships and interests and to build creatively on their strengths and capabilities.
. Clonmel Clubhouse members have found that working with the arts has been a valuable tool in aiding their rehabilitation and they wish to continue to expand on this. It provides a practical and creative outlet for members to realise their creative potential. To date, members have mainly worked with crafts and visual arts so are now keen to explore music as a means of creativity, therapy and rehabilitation. This project will deliver 2 6-week courses of 1 hour music therapy sessions by local qualified music therapist. Research, and our own observations, show that this kind of creative intervention has real and lasting benefits for brain injury survivors. 22 Clubhouse members will benefit from this therapy. Music therapy tutor Joe Roche will facilitate these sessions
