Cairde
Cairde is a series of creative workshops on Friday evenings in Ballinlough, designed for friends who attend adult disability services. This group first came together during COVID-19 for walks and outdoor activities. Post-pandemic, they expressed interest in exploring dance and exercise groups in the community. With the support of a family member and PA, they organized an 8-week series of workshops. In 2025 new workshops will build on the group's initial experiences, with a creative artist engaging participants to understand their preferences and goals. The artist will bring their skills into the lives of the participants, exploring new ideas and being led by the group's interests.
This collaborative approach contrasts with the structured adult services the group typically attends, where facilitators set the agenda. Instead, the artist will sit down with the group to explore and collaborate on ideas, making the experience more engaging and empowering. This initiative is unique in the community, fostering creativity, connection, and joy among participants.
