Comhaltas Trans-Atlantic Connections

‘The Sligo Tunesmith’, the story in music of James ‘Lad’ O’Beirne, is a unique musical celebration which will stream on the Fleadh Cheoil Facebook page on New Year’s Eve 31st December at 9pm (Irish time), linking the Irish Diaspora near and far.

Visit https://www.facebook.com/fleadhcheoil.ie to view the programme and please share this link with your friends. In these difficult times, we hope that this musical tribute will warm the hearts of followers of traditional Irish music the world over.

This 70 minute special will feature many of the tunes composed and played by the Sligo fiddle great ‘Lad’ O’Beirne, played by a host of wonderful musicians on both sides of the Atlantic, in Ireland and in the United States.

Musicians on the bill include Brian Conway, Rose Flanagan, James Kelly (all USA), John Carty, Liam O’Connor, Mary Bergin and host Oisín Mac Diarmada as well as many others. We’ll also hear stories of ‘Lad’ O'Beirne himself, a fiddler considered by many to be among the greatest ever exponents of traditional Irish music.
