Coming Full Circle

Coming Full Circle will see Burren College of Art students repair / reform / reinstate A Circle in Ireland in Doolin, Co. Clare, a landscape sculpture created by internationally renowned landscape artist Richard Long in 1975.

This event will be curated by MFA (Master of Fine Art) students from the Burren College of Art. Under the guidance of course director Áine Phillips, the students are creating interventions that speak to the language of the landscape and its influence on their creativity and work. The links between an older highly regarded international artist, Richard Long, and this young cohort of art students show how the timeless landscape of the Burren can inspire and overcome international and intergenerational barriers.

The performance element of the project will take place after lockdown. It will feature the students from BCA – there will be no community attendance due to Covid restirctions. The performance will feature a commissioned soundscape by Brian Fleming and will be filmed by Tom Flanagan with a voice over by Richard Long.

This project is part of Clare’s contribution to Galway City of Culture 2020.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
