Following Storm Eowyn, many mature trees fell on the boundary between Ard na Coille and Rivendell estates. Galway City Council Recreation & Amenity, engaging with residents on clearance and replanting, received strong interest in retaining stumps for tree carvings. 

The Biodiversity Officer will facilitate resident engagement, raising awareness of local birds and mammals, and run an art competition for families in both estates. Designs will be adjudicated by the Biodiversity Officer in consultation with the artist to select the most suitable designs for chainsaw carvings. Works will be completed by Q4 2026.
