Confidence in Creative Thinking
Creative Ireland Creative communities programme, Wexford County Council and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Wexford are introducing a programme to support the recovery and wellbeing of young people attending CAMHS through art.
Artists Sonya Weston and Deirdre Travers will work with 6-8 teenagers aged 13-16 bringing them through a range of different introductory art practices. These include lino and mono printing, collage and mixed media, painting and drawing, photography lens based and alternative plus also explore the use of text in art. All of these are designed to build skills, learn new techniques in art and to grow in confidence in creative thinking.
The last workshop will develop the groups decision-making skills and the basics of editing their work using computer and phone apps. This in turn will enable the participants to choose which works they would include in a group publication plus what the theme is and what title would best reflect their collective work for the publication.
