Connecting Creatively Through Photography

This participatory photography project brings together older members of the Gorey and Courtown community with residents of the Courtown Hotel IPAS Centre, creating opportunities to build connections, share experiences and strengthen community relationships through a creative process.

Through a series of collaborative photography workshops, participants will explore visual storytelling while documenting aspects of their own lives, interests, local surroundings and everyday experiences. The workshops will encourage participants to express their perspectives, develop new skills and learn from one another in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Participants will continue to develop their own photographic projects throughout the programme, supported by mentoring and group reflection sessions that encourage confidence, creativity and peer learning. A follow-up workshop will provide an opportunity to review, refine and prepare their work for public exhibition.

As part of the project, environmental portraits of participants in places that are meaningful to them will complement the participant-created work, celebrating individual stories while highlighting the diversity and shared experiences within the wider community.

The project will culminate in a public exhibition and community celebration as part of Culture Night. The exhibition will showcase the participants' work and provide a welcoming space for conversation around themes of home, belonging, resilience and community.
