Conservation of Easky Abbey, Easkey, Co. Sligo

Easky Abbey is located within the heart of Easkey village in west Sligo.  It is thought to date from the 13th/14th century, and was in use until the 18th century.

The abbey is in a ruinous state and is in need of conservation. Accordingly, the Heritage Office, Sligo County Council, in partnership with the local community, are undertaking a programme of conservation works (2021 - 2023) to secure the cultural and heritage values of the site.

All works are being undertaken with conservation and archaeological oversight and in line with best conservation practice. A key aspect of the work will be the reinsertion of the carved doorway in the southern wall of the abbey.
