Nodlaig will work with other musicians and creatives in the North West to produce an album of both original music, songs and traditional music set to contemporary arrangements.
Nodlaig’s original music was featured in ‘Harps for Hope’ in recent years for Harp Ireland and she also won the All-Ireland Fleadh for her original song, ‘An Bheann Fhada’ about her native Benedy Glen.
This album will feature the ‘Roe Valley Suite’ and compositions inspired by the Fanad Gaeltacht with Irish harp and the Saxophone of Derry’s world-renowned Gerard McCrystal. An original song, ‘Strings of Heaven’ to celebrate Colmcille 1500 will be among the compositions along with an original song set to the words of Nobel winning poet, Seamus Heaney to mark 50 years since Bloody Sunday.
This creative production will reflect the revival of harping; the enduring beauty of the Irish language, the natural landscape as well as events that have shaped the heritage and history of the North West.
Creative talent from across Donegal and Derry will be showcased from both the traditional and classical genres.
