Creative Writing Ennistymon

Memoir Writing Workshop with Breda Shannon

This six-week memoir writing programme offers participants the opportunity to explore and write about their own life experiences in a supportive and creative environment. Many people are interested in memoir writing but need guidance to begin and the tools to shape their memories into compelling stories.

Through practical writing exercises and an introduction to memoir craft, participants will learn about storytelling techniques, structure, theme, voice and character. The course includes reading and discussion of excerpts from published memoirs, highlighting how writers bring personal stories to life.

Carefully designed writing prompts will help participants uncover meaningful memories, experiences and themes, while building confidence and developing their unique writing voice. Over the six weeks, participants will create a series of short memoir pieces and have opportunities to share their work. Constructive feedback from the facilitator and fellow participants will support skill development and a deeper understanding of memoir as a form of personal storytelling.
