Creativity in Older Age 2022 is a multifaceted initiative that engages with artists in Laois (ages 55+) in a variety of approaches:
‘Activations – Laois Arts’ is launching at The Laois Arthouse, Mon, Nov 7, 1– 3.30pm with Arts Officer and Creative Ireland Coordinator, Muireann Ní Chonaill, and facilitated by founding artistic director of Collective Encounters, Sarah Thornton.
‘Activations’ is a capacity research and development programme for artists in Laois (ages 55+) to ensure that creativity in older age is harnessed and supported. As pillars of positive ageing, practitioners from visual arts, spoken word, dance, film, writing, sculpture, poetry, architecture, photography, music, digital art, theatre, print making, street art, installation, decorative arts, and crafts, etc, are invited to attend.
Our inspiration for this work is based on Na Cailleacha - a collective of artists who have come together to explore being female, older and hopefully wiser.
In Laois as part of developing capacity in older ages and working creatively in arts and culture, we aim to bring this group together as a network, identify needs and consider supports and opportunities.
