This film project will explore and document two significant and recently uncovered elements of Abbeyleix's rich cultural and religious heritage: the Brigidine Convent Cross and the Clonkeen Bell. Through a combination of historical research, expert interviews, community memories, and cinematic storytelling, the project will investigate the origins, significance, and rediscovery of these important artefacts, revealing their connections to the social, spiritual, and cultural history of Abbeyleix and the wider Laois region. 

The film will examine the role of the Brigidine Sisters in shaping local education, faith, and community life, using the convent cross as a focal point for exploring their enduring legacy. It will also delve into the story of the Clonkeen Bell, uncovering its historical context and significance within the area's early ecclesiastical heritage and its links to generations of local people. By bringing together local historians, heritage specialists, former pupils, community members, and custodians of these artefacts, the project will preserve valuable knowledge and personal stories that might otherwise be lost.
