Dance Limerick is a support and resource organisation for dance in the Limerick region. Dance Limerick will bring four artists associated with Limerick, to come together to develop two new, short dance works for presentation at residential care homes. Dance Limerick has recently approved a new Equality and Inclusion policy, and the project enables Dance Limerick to expand its civic role within the county and to bring dance outside of its own premises, while providing residents of care homes, a high quality experience of dance and social interaction with artists. 

This project will engage with a minimum of 10 plus residential care homes in Limerick throughout October and November with performances taking place during the first three weeks in November. These performances will be two 15-20 minute dance duets for presentation to residents and carers at care homes. 

The artists will provide two workshops in each of two homes. These workshops will explore residents’ favourite music, some of their stories and will include some simple movement and stretching. These will be carried out in line with current Covid-19 restrictions and government guidelines will be followed. 

The project will support positive aging by enabling residents at care homes to meet with artists and to see and discuss their performances.
